New building for Campus Sisimiut

As of August 1, Arctic DTU moves from its current location in the blue building on Siimuup Aqqutaa, where it has been situated since 2017 to a larger building on Adammip Aqqutaa. Our new campus building is 885 m² and includes significantly more space with several large class rooms, lounge areas, offices, and meeting rooms, one large kitchen with a lunchroom, two kitchenettes, and storage rooms. By moving to the new building, we will achieve more capacity and a physical presence on KTI’s campus with all its extended facilities next door, such as a large lecture room, for the benefit of both students and staff. This will create room for new initiatives and activities both on education and research and invite for a closer collaboration with KTI.

Relocation Timeline
The building will be handed over to DTU on August 1. Prior to this, the landlord will carry out refurbishment work during July. During this period, the building will be inaccessible to DTU staff and students.

Depending on the progress of the refurbishment, Arctic DTU will move into the building—either fully or partially—towards the end of August. The move-in is expected to take place in stages. Likewise, DTU’s IT/AV equipment cannot be installed until early August and will therefore not be available to staff or students until Arctic DTU announces that it is ready for use.

The planned DTU course taking place from August 4 – 22, will be held in borrowed facilities at the School of Petroleum and Mineral (Råstofskolen). Relevant course coordinators, lecturers, and students will receive separate information from Arctic DTU.

Due to the practical circumstances, Arctic DTU is unable to provide any facilities, office spaces etc. toother staff and students who should be in need during the relocation period. Unfortunately, no alternative facilities, office spaces, or DTU internet access can be offered to other staff or students during the relocation period.

Arctic DTU expects to have an update by the end of July of the timeline and when the building will be ready for use.
